Born and raised in Washington, DC’s “Chocolate City”, DC’s Go-Go music culture influenced Tia Dae’s funky, soulful style. A fan of live instrumentation and performances, at an early age, Tia Dae proclaimed her destiny as a renowned entertainer and songwriter by performing with different bands in the DC area. At every opportunity, Tia Dae took center stage leaving her audience craving more. Singing R&B covers by legendary crooners like Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, and Phyllis Hyman, she garnered widespread acclaim; she has headlined numerous local DMV hotspots, such as Blues Alley. She has also headlined various locations throughout the US, including XEN Lounge in Los Angeles, CA.
Tia Dae’s singing and songwriter accolades include two nominations for the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) Urban Contemporary award; winning the 19th Annual Billie Holiday vocal competition in Baltimore, MD; and winning Best Female Artist of the Year at the Velocity Music Awards.
Not only does she possess pizzazz and talent on stage, Tia Dae is a phenomenal actor. Noted by Writer/Director - Harold Jackson III, as a "natural" on camera. Tia Dae has appeared in multiple films and web series since 2006, including the Daytime Emmy nominated Anacostia web series.
